Iraqi Foreign Minister Naji Sabri arrived in Moscow Monday for a working visit, as part of Baghdad's efforts to rally international support against a threatened U.S. attack.

During his two-day stay, Sabri will hold talks with his Russian counterpart Igor Ivanov on crisis surrounding his nation, bilateral relations as well as economic cooperation, the Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Yakovenko said.

Russia has reiterated opposition to the threatened US strike against Iraq and urged for all possible political and diplomatic efforts.

The Iraq problem should be settled in political and diplomatic ways and in accordance with corresponding resolutions of the UN Security Council, said Yakovenko.

"We believe a comprehensive and long-term solution to the problem of Iraq could be found," he stressed.

It was Sabri's second visit to Russia in four months. After the Moscow visit, he will fly to Cairo for talks with Arab counterparts at the Wednesday opening of the biannual Arab League meeting.
