China will tighten the control over life insurance salesmen and agencies to promote a creditable insurance industry.
China has over 1.2 million life insurance salesmen and over 70,000 agencies, according to official statistics. In direct contact with clients, they represent the image of China's insurance industry.
To ensure the industry's healthy development, all insurance companies must attach great importance to the management of insurance agencies and life insurance salesmen, said Ma Yongwei, chairman of the China Insurance Regulatory Commission.
China's entry into the
World Trade Organization
has put the insurance industry at a crossroads. Dealers must value the conceptof credit, offer honest service and practice fair competition, Ma said.
