46 Leaders Arrive in Johannesburg to Attend Earth Summit
Forty and six heads of state and government have arrived in Johannesburg by 11 a.m. (0900 GMT) Sunday to attend the high-level World Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD), the WSSD spokeswoman said.

Susan Markham told a press conference that the number of the leaders expected to attend the summit has declined to 103 from 109including those from Britain, France, Japan, Germany and Canada.
She also said United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan arrived here earlier Sunday and is expected to address the opening of high-level segment of the summit.
The spokesman said as of Sunday, over 20,000 accreditation passes had been issued, including about 9,000 for delegations, more than 7,700 for major groups and over 3,700 for the media.
The spokeswoman also announced Monday's agenda of the summit, adding that more progress has been made on the issues such as health, water and biodiversity.
But some thorny issues remained unsolved such as financing and trade, she said.
The Earth Summit, as the largest UN gathering in early 21st century, is expected to work out an implementation resolution for sustainable development worldwide before it concludes on Wednesday.
