Cameroonian President Meets Chinese Premier
Cameroonian President Paul Biya met with visiting Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji in Yaounde Friday afternoon at the Presidential Palace, and held cordial and friendly talks on bilateral relations.

Cameroonian President Paul Biya met with visiting Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji here Friday afternoon at the Presidential Palace, and held cordial and friendly talks on bilateral relations.
During their talks, Zhu said Cameroon is an important country in Africa and China has always attached great importance to the friendly relations between the two countries and regarded Cameroonas one of China's major cooperative partners on the African continent.
Under the correct guidance of Biya and Chinese President Jiang Zemin, both Cameroon and China have made new achievements in cooperation in all fields.
"We highly appreciate the Cameroonian government's stance of adhering to the One China policy and thank the Cameroonian government to support China in human rights and other international affairs," Zhu said.
China and Cameroon have conducted various kinds of cooperation in different fields and scored marked achievements in this regard,Zhu said. China has provided some economic aid to Cameroon within its ability to promote Cameroonian socioeconomic development.
During the meeting, Biya said he agreed with Zhu's assessment on the relations between the two countries.
The Cameroonian-Chinese friendly relations are a good example and the Cameroonian people appreciated China's assistance to the country for many years, he said.
Cameroon admires much the great achievements made by China in all fields and what China has achieved in its development has inspired the developing countries including Cameroon.
Biya reaffirmed that Cameroon has always stuck to the One Chinapolicy and supported China's efforts to realize the reunification of China.
On Friday morning, the Chinese premier held friendly talks withhis Cameroonian counterpart Peter Mafany Musonge, exchanging viewson further strengthening two-way cooperation in economic relationsand trade.
After the talks, Zhu attended an agreement signing ceremony at which China and Cameroon signed five documents on cooperation.
"I believe that Sino-Cameroonian friendly and cooperative relations will enter into a new high with the efforts by the two countries," said Zhu.
Cameroon is the third leg of Zhu's four-nation Africa tour, which will also take him to South Africa, where he will attend theWorld Summit on Sustainable Development in Johannesburg.
Before arriving here, the Chinese premier has visited Algeria and Morocco.
