Iraq Seeks Lebanon's Support against US Military Strike

Visiting Iraqi Vice President Taha Yassin Ramadan Friday met with Lebanese leaders to forge Arab unity against US potential military operation to Iraq, the Orientalradio reported.

Visiting Iraqi Vice President Taha Yassin Ramadan here Friday met with Lebanese leaders to forge Arab unity against US potential military operation to Iraq, the Orientalradio reported.

In a meeting with Lebanese President Emile Lahoud, Ramadan delivered a written letter from Iraqi President Saddam Hussein to Lahoud, which seeks support against growing US military threats on Iraq.

During his meeting with Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri, the Iraqi official praised Labanon's effort to keep the region in order and urged that Iraq needs Arab solidarity to face US militarythreats.

Lebanon has already announced its strong opposition to Washington's threats to strike at Iraq under the pretext that Baghdad possessed weapons of mass destruction.

Ramadan stressed that any U.S. attack on an Arab country was an attack against all Arab nations. The Iraqi people are ready to fight with any invaders, he stressed.

Ramadan, who arrived here late Thursday from Syria, will end visit and leave for home on Friday.
