Chinese Premier Arrives in Morocco for Official Visit
Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji arrived in Rabat Tuesday morning for a three-day official visit, during which he is expected to discuss with Moroccan leaders bilateral relations and international and regional issues of common concern.

Zhu and his wife Lao An were greeted at the Rabat-Sale Airport by Moroccan Prime Minister Abderrahmane Youssoufi and a number of cabinet ministers.
Chinese Ambassador to Morocco Xiong Zhanqi and his wife Zhang Yuhua were also at the airport to greet Zhu and his entourage.
After a welcoming ceremony held at the airport, the Chinese premier, accompanied by the Moroccan prime minister, inspected a guard of honor amid national anthems of the two countries.
In a written speech delivered at the airport, Zhu praised as smooth and fruitful the development of the Sino-Moroccan relations.
Over the past 40 years since the two countries established diplomatic relations, bilateral ties and cooperation in all fields have been boosted and developed, while bilateral consultations and coordination on international issues have become closer from day today, under the guidance of the principles of mutual respect and mutual benefit, Zhu said.
The Chinese premier, who is visiting Morocco at the invitation of his Moroccan counterpart Youssoufi, stressed that the Chinese government attaches great importance to enhancing friendship with Morocco, and is willing to further expand cooperation between the two countries.
Zhu said he is looking forward to exchanging views with King of Morocco Mohammed VI and Prime Minister Youssoufi as well as other Moroccan officials over bilateral relations and international and regional issues of common concern.
He said he believes his current visit will promote friendship and cooperation between the two countries to a new phase of development.
Zhu is expected to hold talks with Yousoufi on Tuesday afternoon and attend the banquet held by his Algerian counterpart in his honor in the evening.
Morocco is the second leg of Zhu's four-nation visit to Africa, which has taken him to Algeria and will also take him to Cameroon and South Africa.
In South Africa, Zhu will attend the UN World Summit on Sustainable Development from Sept. 2 to 4.
