Japanese PM to Visit US

Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi will visit the United States to observe the first anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on New York and Washington, Japan's Chief Cabinet Secretary Yasuo Fukuda said Monday.

Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi will visit the United States to observe the first anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on New York and Washington, Japan's Chief Cabinet Secretary Yasuo Fukuda said Monday.

Koizumi will attend a ceremony on Sept. 11 in New York and plans to meet with Bush the following day on his trip from Sept. 9to 14, Fukuda said at a news conference.

The premier will then give a speech at the UN general assembly on Sept. 13, he said.

Koizumi will first fly into Boston from Japan Sept. 9 before heading for the ceremony in New York, he added.
