2 Koreas Swap Lists for Fifth Family Reunion

Red Cross officials from the two Koreas met in the truce village of Panmunjeom Saturday and exchanged lists of candidates for the fifth family reunion that will be held Sept. 21.

Red Cross officials from the two Koreas met in the truce village of Panmunjeom Saturday and exchanged lists of candidates for the fifth family reunion that will be held Sept. 21.

South Korea's Red Cross sent its list of 200 candidates randomly selected by computer, and the North's Red Cross notified that 120 had been selected on its side, including 27 people who had confirmed that their family members were alive but could not join the previous reunion.

The eldest candidate was a man from the North, Lee Gyu-yeom, 82, born in Yeoju, Gyeonggi province. He wishes to meet his South Korean daughter, Jin-ok, 59. A South Korean official said that final lists will be set after confirmation that all the families have living members on both sides.
