MOFTEC Spokeswoman on Regulations on Missile Export Control
The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation (MOFTEC) will work with other government departments to strictly carry out the Regulations on Export Control of Missiles and Missile-related Items and Technologies, a MOFTEC spokeswoman said Sunday.
The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation (MOFTEC) will work with other government departments to strictly carry out the Regulations on Export Control of Missiles and Missile-related Items and Technologies, a MOFTEC spokeswoman said Sunday.
The spokeswoman Gao Yan said the promulgation of the regulations is an "important measure" of the Chinese government to strengthen the control over exports.
The MOFTEC is the official department to supervise all exports in China.
Over the past years, China has constantly strengthened its control over exports and its legislative work on export control in accordance with its anti-proliferation policy, its specific export control practice and world norms, Gao said.
The Foreign Trade Law promulgated in 1994, for instance, clearly stipulates that China prohibits or restricts the export ofgoods and technologies harmful to national security or public interests.
China subsequently promulgated a number of regulations on the control over the export of sensitive items including chemicals, nuclear-related items and technologies, and military products, Gao said.
"These laws and regulations have played a very positive role in standardizing China's export management, implementing non-proliferation policy, safeguarding national security and public interests, and fulfilling China's commitments to international obligations," said the spokeswoman.
The new regulations released Sunday marks another step in China's export management, she said.
