Yangtze River's Nanjing Section Reaching Dangerous Level

The high-tide water level of Yangtze River's Nanjing section in east China's Jiangsu Province had reached 8.56 meters on Thursday night, exceeding the "warning"water level, according to the Jiangsu Flood Control Headquarters.

The high-tide water level of Yangtze River's Nanjing section in east China's Jiangsu Province had reached 8.56 meters on Thursday night, exceeding the "warning"water level, according to the Jiangsu Flood Control Headquarters.

The water level of the flood-prone Yangtze River rose considerably due to the continuous heavy rains along the upper andmiddle reaches of the river. The stem of the river has given rise to the largest flood this year.

It is expected that the water level of the Nanjing Datong section of the Yangtze River will continue to rise and exceed 14.5meters in the next few days. The flood's peak flux will be greater than 65,000 cubic meters per second, and emergency services in the province have been put on high alert again. Officials at all levels in the province are asked to take effective measures to ensure that all flood control facilities areready to intervene.
