A US helicopter was still missing since it took off Wednesday morning from an American military base in South Korea, the US Eighth Army attached to the United States Force Korea (USFK) said on Thursday.

An AH-64A Apache helicopter with two crew members from the Sixth Cavalry Brigade left Camp Page in Chuncheon, 85km northeast of Seoul, bound for Camp Humphremphreys in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province, the USFK was quoted by South Korean national news agency Yonhap News.

The US side notified the South Korean authorities of the missing helicopter Thursday and conducted an initial search, reported Yonhap.

The airborne search resumed Thursday without any improvement yet.
