UN Official Praises China's Contribution in Peace-keeping
Visiting UN under-secretary-general Jean-Marie Guehenno said Wednesday in Beijing at a press conference that China has made great contributions to the UN peace-keeping operations.
Visiting UN under-secretary-general Jean-Marie Guehenno said Wednesday in Beijing at a press conference that China has made great contributions to the UN peace-keeping operations.
Guehenno said China's attitude to the UN peace-keeping operations is positive. So far, China has sent military observers and civil police officers to UN missions to take charge of engineering, transportation and health care.
He expressed his appreciation to Chinese peace-keeping personnel for their self-motivation, self-discipline and the specialized training they received. He said the property of self-discipline is very important for both China and the United Nations.
During his three-day visit in China, Guehenno discussed the UN-China cooperation on peace-keeping activities with relevant departments of the Chinese government. He also visited the Academy of the Chinese People's Armed Police Force.
