US Fighter Crashes in Japan, Pilot Rescued

A U.S. Air Force fighter based in Japan's Okinawa Prefecture crashed Wednesday morning in the sea and the pilot was rescued, Japan's Kyodo News reported.

A U.S. Air Force fighter based in Japan's Okinawa Prefecture crashed Wednesday morning in the sea and the pilot was rescued, Japan's Kyodo News reported.

The F-15 fighter was down about 100 kilometers south of Okinawa's main island at around 10 a.m. (0100 GMT), Kyodo said, quoting local officials.

The fighter was based at the Kadena air base in Okinawa Prefecture, it added.
