China's Guangdong Jan-Jul Exports 36.6% of National Total
China's southern Guangdong province's January-July exports were valued at $62.7 billion, accounting for 36.6% of China's total exports during the same period, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation said.
Guangdong's January-July export total represented a 23% on-year increase, a statement posted on the ministry's Web site said.
The southern province's exports to Hong Kong and the U.S. increased 26% and 21% respectively during the same period to $22.7 billion and $15.3 billion, according to statistics from Guangdong Customs authorities.
The figures reinforce Guangdong's reputation as the workshop of China, home to hundreds of foreign joint-venture manufacturing plants producing goods for export to international markets.
