URGENT: DPRK, Japan to Hold Talks in Pyongyang

The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) and Japan will hold talks in Pyongyang on establishing diplomatic relations later this month, the Korean Central News Agency reported on Wednesday.

The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) and Japan will hold talks here on establishing diplomatic relations later this month, the Korean Central News Agency reported on Wednesday.

Officials from the ministries of the two countries will hold talks in Pyongyang from August 25 to 26 to discuss all the mattersrelated to establishing diplomatic relations and other issues of mutual concern.

The normalization talks between the DPRK and Japan were cut off after the last round of talks held in Beijing in October 2000,as the DPRK demanded apology and compensation of Japan for its colonial rule over Korean Peninsula from 1910 to 1945.
