The State Council has passed, in principle, the draft of the provisions for the administration of cyber bar services to give more official control of the fledgling cyber bar business.

The draft statute was adopted Wednesday at the 62nd executive meeting of the State Council, which was presided over by Premier Zhu Rongji.

Those attending the meeting attributed the excessive number of cyber bars in some areas to the negligence of local authorities. They agreed this has resulted in the opening of unlicensed bars offering illegal services, lack of order, and poor safety standards.

All participants at the meeting believed that the drafting of the statute is what the people of China want.

The statute will be issued and enacted by the State Council after revisions have been completed.
