Macedonian President Boris Trajkovski praised highly on Tuesday the Framework Agreement signed one year ago, saying it was a "pillar" of the successful crisis resolution, MIA news agency reported.
"It is an agreement with wide political grounds based on the consensus of the most significant legitimate political entities inMacedonia," Trajkovski said in his statement on the first anniversary since the document has been signed.
A security conflict occurred last year in Macedonia when ethnicAlbanian rebels attacked Macedonian police patrol. The situation calmed down after a peace agreement was signed on August 13, 2001,by four main ethnic Albanian and Macedonian Parties.
The Albanian rebels then handed over their weapons to International peacekeeping troops led by NATO.
The Framework Agreement was adopted in "the most difficult time, this country has ever faced since its independence, when significant part of its territory was affected by the crisis," said Trajkovski.
