US Commandos in Malaysia to be Regarded as Invaders: Mahathir
Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad said Tuesday that if the United States sends it commandos to Malaysia ostensibly to arrest members of the Al-Qaeda group, such action will be regarded as an incursion.
Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad said Tuesday that if the United States sends it commandos to Malaysia ostensibly to arrest members of the Al-Qaeda group, such action will be regarded as an incursion.
"If (they) come to our country, we will regard it as an incursion," he told a news conference after launching University Tunku Abdul Rahman (Utar) here.
The prime minister said that Malaysia has its own ways to handle any incursion by any country.
He was asked to comment on a news report that the US proposed to send its commandos to any country to catch or kill Al-Qaeda leaders suspected to be in these countries.
The report quoted the New York Times as saying, among others, for the plan to work, Washington need not inform the country concerned about the operation.
The Al-Qaeda group is linked to Saudi-born millionaire Osama bin Laden who was pinned by Washington as the prime suspect in theterrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in New York and the Pentagon on Sept. 11 last year.
