The radical Palestinian groups Hamas and Islamic Jihad (holy war) said on Tuesday that they would not stop attacks inside Israel and vowed to continue resistance againstthe Israeli occupation by all means, Palestinian sources said.

"Hamas will not accept any document that does not give it the right of resistance on all Palestinian lands," Hamas leader in the Gaza Strip Ismail was quoted as saying.

Ismail made the remarks in response to reports that Palestinian officials had hinted that Hamas could sign up to a proposal to end attacks inside Israel in a bid to ease the 22 months of bloody conflicts between the Israelis and the Palestinians.

His comments were echoed by top Jihad leader Mohammed al-Hindi, who said that Islamic Jihad will continue its resistance to the occupation, even if it reached an agreement on the document under discussion.

On Monday, the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) and the different Palestinian political groups, including Hamas and IslamicJihad, renewed dialogue in a bid to hammer out a comprehensive political national program to achieve national unity and a continuation of "armed struggle against the Israeli occupation."

According to Palestinian sources, one of the most important provisions into the document is that all political groups have to agree on stopping operations and attacks against Israeli targets inside Israel, and limit the attacks to the Palestinian territoriesthat were occupied by Israeli in the 1967 Mideast War.

The sources said the program would succeed only if Hamas and Islamic Jihad accept it, adding that the current position of both groups is to continue armed resistance, but not at the expense of the image of the Palestinians in front of the world.
