A total of 20 multinationals have established their regional headquarters in Beijing, the Beijing Daily reported on Tuesday.
In the first seven months of this year, Beijing approved applications for 760 overseas firms to set up business in the city.
Beijing drew actual investments of 3.36 billion U.S. dollars during the same period, an increase of 130 percent on a year-on-year basis.
Real estate, social services and trade are the sectors that foreign companies most like to invest in, according to the paper.
Some multinationals, such as Yamaha and Shell, have even set upbuying centers in the city.
There are now 15 overseas-funded retail companies in Beijing, and some overseas retail giants such as Wal-mart and 7-11 have also expressed interest in investing in the city.
