Eight Miners Confirmed Dead in Central China

Eight of the 29 miners who were trapped underground when water flooded a shaft on Friday at a coal pit in central China's Henan Province, have been confirmed dead.

Eight of the 29 miners who were trapped underground when water flooded a shaft on Friday at a coal pit in central China's Henan Province, have been confirmed dead.

The others were rescued Saturday.

Flood from disused mines swept into the shaft where 29 miners were working in the Yiwan Coal Mine Friday morning. The mine belongs to the Coal Industry Group of Zhengzhou, the provincial capital.

Further investigations are underway to find the cause of the accident.
