Heavy Rain Leaves 6 Dead, 12 Missing in S. Korea
The fourth day of South Korea nationwide severe rain, Wednesday, saw serious flooding in the upper reaches of the Han and Anseong rivers, with residents in low lying areas, including Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province and Yeongwueol, Gangwon Province being evacuated.

The Korea Meteorological Administration forecast more than 300mm of rain to roll across the peninsular up to Thursday as the storm front moves south and warned of more flood damage.
Following flood warnings issued by the National Disaster Prevention and Countermeasures Headquarters for the upper Han and Anseong, it extended these to the lower Han and some parts of the Kum and Nakdong rivers.
The NDPCH said the road to Chuncheon from Hyeongok Tunnel adjacent to Danyang was closed due to collapsed earthwork at the mouth of the tunnel, as were sections of the Olympic Expressway and Eastern Ring Road due to flooding from the Han River. In addition a total of 96 domestic flights were cancelled.
The headquarters announced the concentrated rain caused the flooding of some 6,700 households and 1,154ha farmlands nationwide, leaving six killed and twelve missing to date. The estimated cost of damages so far is W17.5 billion.
KMA forecast the precipitation in Seoul, Northern Gyeonggi and Gangwon provinces and the DPRK to reach between 60-120mm, while that of most other regions will average 100-200mm with 300mm being the maximum.
As of Wednesday at 3:00pm, Yangpyong of Gyeonggi Province had 490.5mm of rain, followed by Seoul with 466mm, Jincheon of Chungbuk Province with 444mm, Eumseong with 412mm and Bonghwa and Yeongju of Gyeongbuk Province with 412mm.
