Afghan Foreign Minister Abdullah Abdullah Wednesday praised China's timely assistance to the reconstruction of Afghanistan and welcomed China to invest in the private sector of Afghanistan.

"China is moving fast and has acted timely and rightly, providing us with emergency aid, as well as the cash," said Abdullah in an exclusive interview with Xinhua.

"I have mentioned it in different places. Just a few days ago when I participated in Afghanistan-U.S. summit on reconstruction in the George Town University, I mentioned the example of China," said Abdullah.

He said Afghanistan is waiting a technical team from China to survey irrigation project in Parwan Province and other projects.

When answering the question of China's role in Afghanistan's reconstruction, Abdullah said China will play a key role in the reconstruction of Afghanistan and development of future trade between the two countries.

China can play an important role, from one side, in the peace process of reconstruction, and, from the other side, in the private sector. China can create lots of potentials here for developing trade and investment. China's investment is welcome, Abdullah said.

Reviewing the history of Sino-Afghan relations, the foreign minister said that the relations between the two countries have been very good. The two countries have traditional links which canbe traced back to ancient time. Silk Road is not an unknown name to Afghan people.

China has stood by the people of Afghanistan, by the causes of the people of Afghanistan. One of the causes was seeking independence of Afghanistan from the Soviet Union. Secondly, when Afghanistan was attacked by terrorist groups, China not only didn't recognize the Taliban regime, but also had diplomatic relations with the resistance government. And China was a big supporter of the Bonn Agreement, said the foreign minister.

He said China has a good record of noninterference in this country, supporting the sovereignty of this country, being neighbors. All these are good opportunity for the development of bilateral relations.

"China and Afghanistan have a lot in common, rich history and rich culture. I am sure there is a bright future for our relations," said Abdullah.

He stressed that Afghanistan has always pursued one-China policy.

He considered those of "East Turkistan" who came to Afghanistanwith the help of Al-Qaeda and the Taliban as terrorists, enemies of Afghanistan and enemies of humanity. "We will make every effortto prevent Afghanistan once again being used by terrorists," he said.

He added that Chinese and Afghan people together can do a lot. "The road ahead of us is much longer than our history." he said.
