Jordan and Turkey on Tuesday expressed deep concern and opposition to any military action against Iraq, which they warned will cause serious repercussions to the Middle East region as a whole.
The two countries reaffirmed their stands during a meeting between Jordanian Prime Minister Ali Abu Ragheb and visiting Turkish Foreign Minister Sukru Sina Gurel, Jordan's official Petra news agency reported.
During the meeting, Abu Ragheb said such a military action will have destructive consequences on Iraq from the human and economic points of view and negative impacts on the region at large.
He highlighted the Jordanian stand that calls for continued dialogue between Baghdad and the United Nations and defusing tensions over Iraq.
On his part, the Turkish minister reiterated his country's rejection to the anticipated US strike on Iraq and support for Iraq's territorial integrity and sovereignty.
He stressed it is the Iraqi people's right to choose their leadership and have self-determination.
Following the meeting, Gurel told reporters that both Turkey andJordan believe that all of the region's problems should be tackled by peaceful means.
Consultation between Turkey and Jordan should continue due to its positive impact on the future developments in the region, he added.
