Chinese badminton doubles pairs will fight for at least one point in next Thomas Cupand a gold medal in the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, said a coach on Monday.

Tang Xianhu, the newly named doubles coach, said that he didn'texpect much from his students in the Asian Games, which will be held in late September and early October in Busan, South Korea.

"We all know the Chinese men's doubles team," he said. "It's unrealistic for them to become top-flight players in a month. I just hope they will show their best in Busan."

Tang admitted he hadn't found any talented players for doubles in a training camp here, which is to end on September 25.

The coach said Chen Hong, an Asian Games singles title hopeful, had almost recovered from injuries but Olympic champion Ji Xinpengwas still struggling to find his form.

The Asiad-bound shuttlers would leave the camp early to tune upin Qingdao, Shandong Province, he added.
