Floodwaters in NW China Sweep Bus off Bridge, Killing 18

A bus was swept off a bridge by floodwaters in Dingxi County, northwest China's Gansu Province, at11:30 p.m. Sunday, leaving 18 people dead and 11 others missing.

A bus was swept off a bridge by floodwaters in Dingxi County, northwest China's Gansu Province, at11:30 p.m. Sunday, leaving 18 people dead and 11 others missing.

The accident occurred when the bus was heading for Zhenyuan County from Lanzhou, capital city of the province.

Five of the 34 people aboard survived the accident and rescue teams were still searching for the 11 missing passengers at press time.

Officials from the Gansu provincial government and the local government are coordinating rescue efforts at site.
