Annan strongly condemns fatal bomb attack at Hebrew University

Appalled by the bomb attackat the Hebrew University in Jerusalem earlier Wednesday, UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan strongly denounced such terror acts aimed at civilians.

Appalled by the bomb attackat the Hebrew University in Jerusalem earlier Wednesday, UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan strongly denounced such terror acts aimed at civilians.

In a statement issued here at the UN headquarters in New York, the UN chief said he "condemns utterly all such terrorist attacks against civilians."

Annan repeated his calls to all sides to break the cycle of violence, revenge and retaliation, and called on the parties to return to the path of negotiations on a permanent settlement.

A suicide bombing attack in a crowded cafeteria at the Jerusalem's Hebrew University killed at least seven and injured over 80. The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement has claimed responsibility.
