The United States has arrested 2,127 suspected drug traffickers along its Mexican border since March, the US Marshals Service announced Tuesday.
The US and Mexico cooperated in an operation targeting major narcotics criminals "who had substantial resources to fund new identities and frequent movements," the agency said in a statement.
"The sheer number of violent fugitives taken off the street makes this a successful operation," said Ben Reyna, director of the Marshals Service.
The operation, which was carried out between March and mid-July,dismantled narcotics organizations in Texas, Arizona, and California, the agency said.
