China has possessed 28 world natural and cultural relics since it formerly signed the "World Natural and Cultural Relics Protection Convention". Currently it has conducted thorough checks on 14 relics, such as the Great Wall, the Imperial Palace of the Ming and Qing Dynasties and the Emperor Qin's mausoleum, which were listed in the world relics in 1996, to cooperate with the United Nations Educational. Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in carrying on the relics assessment work.

The checks will be cooperated by the State Cultural Relics Bureau, the Ministry of Construction and the UNESCO.

The 14 relics, according to international practice, are going to be checked and assessed on protection work, particular the current protection work.

Sources reveal the world committee is authorized to list the protection problems in the "World Heritage List in Danger". Some of China's relic projects have been involved in the problems of false and excessive exploit, though until now no relic has been listed
