Hamas military wing chooses new leader
The Ezzedin Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the radical Palestinian group Hamas, has chosen a new leader to succeed Salah Shehada, who was murdered Monday night, the group's spokesman Abe-El-Aziz El Rantisi announced Friday.

Shehada was killed when an Israeli warplane used "smart bomb" toexplode a densely populated living quarter in Gaza City. The strikealso claimed the lives of 14 civilians including nine children, andinjured more than 100 others.
The attack came as Palestinian National Authority officials saidthey were making headway in persuading Hamas into a halt to suicidebombing against Israelis.
