China has decided to send a 985-member sports delegation to compete in South Korea's Busan Asian Games running from September 29 to October 14, which is the third biggest delegation following 1,142-member host South Korea and 1,002-member Japan.
A total of 7,883 athletes and 3,377 coaches and officials from 42 countries and regions have confirmed their participation in the 38-sport Asian Games, according to the Games' organizing committee.
The Democratic People's Republic of Korea is the only member of the 43-strong Asian Olympic Committee, which hasn't registered for the Games so far. August 30 is the deadline for the registration.
This is the second time for the Asian Games to be held in a city which is not the capital. The first time took place in Japan's Hiroshima in 1994.
