A four-day exhibition on vocational education opened Thursday in Changchun, capital of Jilin Province in northeast China.
Educationists from 14 countries and regions as well as 32 Chinese delegations joined the exhibition.
During the exhibition, the participants will discuss opportunities and challenges in vocational education following China's accession into the World Trade Organization (WTO).
An international educational show, a teaching equipment show and a forum on vocational education will be held during the exhibition.
With its accession into the WTO, China was in urgent need of well-trained workers and staff for the industrial and service sectors, said an official with the Ministry of Education.
"We hope the exhibition can promote the development of vocational education and further arouse Chinese people's awarenessof it," said the official.
The exhibition is expected to attract more than 200,000 visitors.
Statistics from the ministry show that over the past two decades, about 50 million Chinese have graduated from various vocational schools.
