An Israeli was killed and another wounded in a shooting attack early Thursday near the Alei Zahav settlement in the West Bank, Israeli Radio reported.
The radio quoted a military source as saying the two Israelis were driving near the settlement in the northwest of the West Bank when their car went under Palestinian fire.
One of them was killed on the spot and the injured, who was in serious condition, was taken to an Israeli hospital, the radio said.
Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, an armed wing of Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat's Fatah movement has claimed, in a statement, responsibility for the attack, saying it is a response to Israel's killing Palestinian civilians and a Hamas military leader.
An Israeli F-16 fighter bombed a civilian building in eastern Gaza City midnight Monday, killing Hamas military leader Salah Shehadeh together with 14 civilians, most of them women and children, and injuring about 140 others.
The operation has triggered wide international condemnation, andradical Palestinian groups, including Hamas and Islamic Jihad, vowed to avenge the attack.
