President Jiang's Gift to Bush Couple This Fall
A set of "Jixiang ruyi", produced by Jingdezhen Ceramics Co., Ltd, will be presented to Bush couple this Autumn by Chinese President Jiang Zemin in his US visit, according to Jiangnan City Daily, a local paper.
During a dinner when visiting China last February, the US President Bush and his wife, Laura Bush, were attracted by a set of chinaware named "Jixiang ruyi" (meaning being 'blessed and lucky' in Chinese, see the picture) and spoke highly of the in-glaze, famille rose tableware.
A set of "Jixiang ruyi", produced by Jingdezhen Ceramics Co., Ltd, will be presented to Bush couple this Autumn by Chinese President Jiang Zemin in his US visit, according to Jiangnan City Daily, a local paper. Now the tableware is ready and its package is under designing.
The tableware, which combines Chinese national characters with modern art and is free of poisonous elements usually seen during porcelain production, has been lauded by many foreigners as perfectly elegant, according to Wang Yao, general manager of the producing company.
The set contains as many as more than 200 pieces, including bowls, plates, pots, jars, spoons, chopstick stands and so on, and is suitable for both Chinese and Western dinners. It takes golden yellow as body color and is dabbed with red, blue, green and light green colors, carrying a design consisted of bats, lotus, clouds and other traditional decorations. Made of top quality white porcelain, every piece of the tableware feels perfectly fine and smooth.
