"Salah Shehade was among the victims killed," Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh said.
Israel accused Shehade, head of the Ezzedin al-Qassam Brigades and one of the Palestinians most wanted by Israel, of being behind "hundreds" of anti-Israel attacks.
At least 12 people were killed and 130 injured by Israeli warplanes attacks Monday night on an overcrowded neighborhood in the Gaza City,a neighborhood in the Gaza City, Palestinian medical sources said.
Eyewitnesses also confirmed that among the killed was Sheikh Salah Shehada, his wife and three kids.
