Jordan's King Seeks to Push Mideast Peace Process Forward in Paris-US Visit

Jordanian King Abdullah II's visit next week to Paris and Washington will be part of the king's consultations with all parties concerned to push the Mideast peace process forward, the official Petra news agency reported on Monday.
A statement by Jordanian Foreign Minister Marwan Moasher was quoted as saying that the king's visit to France and the united states will focus on the latest developments of the Israeli-Palestinian conflicts and prepare for a clear working plan for the Mideast peace process from now to mid-2005.
"We see this date (mid-2005) as the end of Israeli occupation and the establishment of the Palestinian state," the statement said.
In his June 24 Mideast policy speech, US President George W. Bush called for Palestinian reforms and change of the current Palestinian leadership led by Yasser Arafat in exchange for US support for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state within three years.
Moasher's statement said there is a serious Arab move to promotethe Mideast peace process, as seen through the Arab initiative committee and the meetings of foreign ministers of Jordan, Egypt and Saudi Arabia with international parties in Washington and New York earlier this month.
Jordan and Egypt are the only two Arab countries that have signed peace treaties with Israel and both countries stand for a just, durable and comprehensive peace in the region.
