S.Korea Decides Compensation Sum for Girls Killed by US Armored Vehicle
The South Koran Justice Ministry Saturday decided that the families of two teenage girls killed accidentally by a US armored vehicle should receive over 190 million won (147,820 US dollars) in compensation.

The exact compensation amount is 196.26 million won for Shin Hyo-sun's family and 195.45 million won for the family of Shim Mi-seon. The two girls were rolled over by a US Army vehicle on June 13 in Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi Province.
The compensation is hoped to deliver to the victims' folks next week, if all the relative details are settled with the U.S. Forces Korea (USFK), the Justice Ministry officials was quoted by the national news agency Yonhap News as saying.
According to Status of Forces Agreement, the United States is due to pay 75 percent of the compensation, South Korea is responsible for the remains. And the South Korean government will firstly deliver the full compensation to the victims' families and then request payment from the US side, said Yonhap.
Although the US army announced the two responsible soldiers who directed the armored vehicle were charged for negligent homicide, South Koreans roared against privilege of the US army stationed here.
