Helicopter Crash Kills Two in Eastern Canada

Two people were killed and another two injured after a Canadian helicopter crashed in a wooded area near Canada's eastern Goose Bay late Thursday, reports reaching here said.

Two people were killed and another two injured after a Canadian helicopter crashed in a wooded area near Canada's eastern Goose Bay late Thursday, reports reaching here said.

The CH-146 Griffon army helicopter -- one of four based in Goose Bay -- was spotted around 9 p.m. local time by a search-and-rescue helicopter, about 81 kilometers northwest of Goose Bay, military sources said.

The helicopter was returning from a search for a missing boat when it suddenly lost contact with the rescue base around 5:10 p.m.local time.

A search and rescue official in Halifax said the sky was overcast at the time of the crash. The exact cause of the accidenthas not been identified.
