The South Korean government Friday approved a 15-member delegation's three-day trip to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), the South Korean national news agency Yonhap News reported.

The delegation, formed by South Korean Headquarters for Joint National Events, left for Beijing and will go to Pyongyang on Saturday to discuss inter-Korean joint events to mark the NationalLiberation Day on Aug. 15.

The delegation will hold a working-level meeting with officialsfrom the DPRK's National Reconciliation Council on July 21-22 before returning home next Tuesday, said Yonhap.

The inter-Korean naval clash on June 29 in the Yellow Sea has cooled down the communications between the two sides and has left Seoul's "Sunshine Policy" toward DPRK under fire from the opposition.
