China Subject to Most Restriction by US Trade Barriers
Media reported recently that at the beginning of this year, the EU stopped importing China's honey in excuse of excessive antibiotic in it. Currently Japan, Canada and the United States also have intensified checks on China's honey. China's agricultural and animal products have been plagued by "green trade barriers" since the country entered into the WTO.

China's agricultural and animal products have been plagued by "green trade barriers" since the country entered into the WTO. This January Zhejiang Zhoushan's frozen shrimp meat was returned by the European countries; This February the export of bulk agricultural products, like frozen chicken, peanut and vegetable in Shandong province, dropped sharply; in the first five months of this year, China's animal and sea food products were not allowed to export to Europe.
The negative effects exerted by the green trade barriers are as follows:
First, more kinds of agriculture products are restricted by the barriers, which range from honey to frozen chicken and extend to the whole livestock and sea food products.
Second, The countries which set up the barriers to China are expanding from developed countries such as the EU, the US and Japan to some developing ones like the ROK and Singapore.
Third, China becomes the country subjected to the most restriction by the US barriers. From this January to May, the United States had detained 12,025 batches of products, of which 1,140 belong to China, accounting for 9.47 percent of the total.
Fourth, the items for check on China's agricultural and livestock products are increasing. The check items of China's tea by the EU have been up to 62 from the previous 6.
Fifth, the green trade barriers have adversely effected the exports from the country's well-developed provinces and cities. China's 896 batches of products were detained by America from this January to March, 78.6 percent of China's total products detained.
Sixth, the incessant barriers imposed on the above-mentioned Chinese products will probably give rise to proliferation and chain effects.
