More than 100 Chinese and Russian young people are to swim over the Heilongjiang (known as Amur in Russia) River Wednesday morning to mark the anniversary of the signing of a friendship treaty between the two countries.
On July 16 last year, China and Russia signed a new treaty on good neighborliness, friendship and cooperation in Moscow, Russia.
The treaty, hailed to be a milestone in the history of Sino-Russian relations, sets out in legal terms the sincere aspiration and determination of China and Russia to enjoy a lasting friendship without hostility.
The young people from the two countries are expected to start the cross-river swim from Heihe city in China's Heilongjiang Province, and the Russian city of Blagoveshchensk.
China and Russia share a common border thousands of kilometers long.
