Guandong Sees Continued Growth in Foreign Trade
South China's Guangdong province which leads the country in foreign trade registered an increase of 19.9 percent in trade volume in the first half of this year.

Exports and imports totaled 97.87 billion U.S. dollars worth during the period, according to Liang Yaowen, vice-director of theForeign Trade and Economic Cooperation Department of the provincial government.
Liang said overall exports from Guangdong rose to 52.18 billionU.S. dollars worth, 20.9 percent above the same period last year.
The province, which borders Hong Kong, reported a 32.6 percent growth in general trade, totaling 9.7 billion U.S. dollars.
Exports of machinery and electronics products were worth 31.57 billion U.S. dollars, about 60.5 percent of the overall export volume, and high tech products exports reached 13.35 billion U.S. dollars.
Guangdong also absorbed 7.75 billion U.S. dollars in contractual foreign investment during the first six months of thisyear, up 18 percent year on year, while actual foreign investment totaled 6.27 billion U.S. dollars.
