China Mobile Users Send 8.53 Billion Messages in June

China Mobile users sent a record 8.53 billion short messages in June, sources from China Mobile said on Tuesday.

China Mobile users sent a record 8.53 billion short messages in June, sources from China Mobile said on Tuesday.

The sources said the total short messages send in the first half of the year by China Mobile users is 28.2 billion, far exceeding the 15.8 billion over the same period last year.

China Mobile originally predicted that its users would send about 30 billion messages during the whole year and this target has almost been reached.

To further expand the message market, China Mobile and Ericssoncompany announced Tuesday that they will jointly hold a Multi-media short message (MMS) application match in China from July toSeptember this year.

The two telecommunications giants will first train MMS application developers in the cities of Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou and will then encourage them to design new MMS products.They will evaluate the new products and present awards to the designers of the most popular and functional products.
