Two Senior Officials Fired in Vietnam

The sixth session of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee (CPVCC) (ninth congress) concluded in Hanoi Monday after taking some important decisions.

The sixth session of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee (CPVCC) (ninth congress) concluded in Hanoi Monday after taking some important decisions.

At the session, CPVCC has reviewed errors and mistakes of Bui Quoc Huy, member of CPVCC and deputy minister of Public Security, and Tran Mai Hanh, member of CPVCC and general director of Radio the Voice of Vietnam, who were involved in the case of Truong Van Cam, who is on charges of organizing gambling and usury.

CPVCC has decided to remove Huy and Hanh from their position asmembers of CPVCC, and proposed the government to remove Huy from his position as deputy minister of Public Security and demote him from lieutenant-general to major-general, and remove Hanh from hisposition as general director of Radio the Voice of Vietnam and proposed the Vietnam Journalist's Association to review to remove Hanh from his position as vice chairman and general secretary of the Vietnam Journalist's Association.

During its 10 days of working, the sixth plenum of CPVCC discussed and decided a number of very important issues. These include orientations of educational-training, scientific-technological development through 2010 and the targets of improving the educational quality and efficiency, expanding educational scale, and ensuring social equality in education.
