China and Cuba have made satisfactory progress in developing the relations between the two armed forces, a senior Chinese military official said Monday in Beijing.

Yu Yongbo, director of the General Political Department of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) of China, made the remarks during his meeting with Sixto Batista Santana, director of the General Political Department of the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces, and his party.
Yu, also member of the Central Military Commission, spoke highly of the friendly cooperation between the two countries and the two armed forces, saying that as the two mutually trusted socialist countries, China and Cuba have been expanding their exchanges and cooperation over the past few years.
Yu thanked the Cuban government for offering its support to China on issues of human rights, Taiwan and Tibet. Together with Cuba, China is willing to make fresh efforts for the consolidationof friendly cooperation between the two armed forces, he said.
Sixto said the exchanges between the two countries and the two armed forces have been on the increase in recent years. He hoped such relationship will grow continuously.
