Jordanian Prime Minister Ali Abu Ragheb on Sunday met with visiting Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa over the latest developments on the Palestinian lands and a possible US-led military strike against Iraq.
During the meeting, Abu Ragheb called for prompt joint Arab action to activate the Arab Mideast peace initiative, adopted at the March 27-28 Arab summit in Beirut, and to revive contacts and political negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians, Jordan's official Petra news agency reported.
The meeting also focused on press reports concerning a possible US-led military action against Iraq. In this regard, Abu Ragheb reiterated Jordan's stand of rejecting any military strikes againstIraq or any other Arab country, Petra said.
He described as completely untrue international press reports that Jordanian territories and airspace will be used for a militaryaction against Iraq, and denied the existence of any US bases or troops on the Jordanian territories.
For his part, Moussa expressed his full conviction that Jordan, like the rest of Arab countries, is committed to the Beirut summit resolutions which reject any military action against any Arab country, Petra said.
Moussa is expected to meet Jordanian King Abdullah Bin Hussein.
He will also take part in a ceremony later this week to proclaimAmman as capital of Arab culture for this year.
