Colombian Journalist Shot Dead in Bucaramanga

A Colombian journalist was shot dead in a rural area near the capital of Santander state in northern Colombia, police said on Friday.

A Colombian journalist was shot dead in a rural area near the capital of Santander state in northern Colombia, police said on Friday.

Mario Prada, 44, who was director of the local daily Horizonte Sabanero, had been missing since Thursday afternoon.

Prada's body was found on Friday at El Pino near Bucaramanga, 540 kilometers north of Bogota.

The police did not speculate on the cause of the murder, nor did they say who might be the murderers.

Prada's colleagues they did not know whether the slain journalist had received death threats.

Horizonte Sabanero is an influential newspaper in the conflict area of Magdalena Medio.
