Shanghai Exports up 10.6 Percent in First Half of Year

Sea and air exports via Shanghai rose 10.6 percent in the first six months of the year to hit 36.658 billion US dollars, the Shanghai customs authority said.

Sea and air exports via Shanghai rose 10.6 percent in the first six months of the year to hit 36.658 billion US dollars, the Shanghai customs authority said.

Exports to Asia increased by 11.3 percent year-on-year to hit 17.346 billion dollars. Exports to North America grew by 17.6 percent to 8.526 billion dollars. Exports to Europe rose 3.5 percent to 7.412 billion dollars.

Exports by overseas-funded enterprises saw a 16.8-percent growth in the first half of the year. They account for 48.6 percent of Shanghai's exports.

Exports by the private sector soared by 150 percent to 1.153 billion dollars.

Exports of automatic data processing equipment, mobile phones, computers and other products reported strong growth in the first six months.
