The Scandinavian ceasefire monitors said on Monday that 56 violations of the truce by the Tamil Tiger rebels have been recorded while the government army is blamed for 20 breaches.

The Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission (SLMM) said in a statement that the most common violations are abductions or kidnaps by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) rebels, totaling 21, whilethere were 11 instances of harassment of civilians and seven of extortion.
The government forces have violated the ceasefire by six casesof harassment, six cases of restriction of movement and five casesof restriction on fishing.
The SLMM also said it has received 380 valid complaints of breaches of the truce, which came into effect on February 22, of which 270 were against the LTTE rebels and 110 against government forces.
The mission said it is still investigating 44 complaints against the LTTE of forced recruitment or child recruitment, 32 abductions, 44 incidents of harassment and 16 missing persons.
The reported incidents of truce violation by both the LTTE rebels and the government forces extended from February 22 to the end of June.
