Vice Premier Meets European Parliament Delegation
Vice Premier Qian Qichen said Monday China values the important role of the European Union (EU) in the international arena, and promoting relations between China and EU conforms to the fundamental interests of both sides and will benefit world peace, stability and development.
Vice Premier Qian Qichen said Monday China values the important role of the European Union (EU) in the international arena, and promoting relations between China and EU conforms to the fundamental interests of both sides and will benefit world peace, stability and development.
At a meeting with the European Parliament delegation for relations with China headed by Elly Plooij-Van Gorsel, Qian said the all-round partnership between China and EU is entering a new period of development. High-level exchange of visits has been frequent, and political dialogue and consultations at all levels are active.
Continuous progresses have also been made in cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, science and technology, and culture, Qian said.
Plooij-Van Gorsel said that the European Parliament and China's National People's Congress (NPC) have maintained friendly relations, and great changes have taken place in both China and Europe in recent years.
She hoped to exchange views with the Chinese side on issues of common concern so as to promote cooperation between EU and China and between the European Parliament and NPC.
